Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security having Live Update tool to update the Latest Virus definitions. For this feature, we need to have an Internet Connection. Otherwise the Live Update feature will not work in your computer.

Many of the end-users don’t want to have an internet connection in their computer, because of security reasons. Still they are using Antivirus software to scan the computer. But they don’t know how to update the Anti-Virus Software in offline.

Updating Norton Antivirus in Offline.
Every end of the week Symantec Corporation releases virus definition updates. Just follow the steps.

• Go to Internet café with any one removable storage media. Like CD/DVD, Pen Drive (Flash/Thumb Drive).
• Go to Latest Norton Antivirus Updates page and download the updates package.
• Find your Symantec product (Norton Products) and download the appropriate executable file. That is the executable archive package. This package contains latest virus definitions to cure your computer from latest threads.

For example: Find your product first. And check your Operating system and the bit versions. Now you can download the update package. See the screenshot below.

For my computer, it is Norton Antivirus 2007, Win XP, 32 Bit computer.

Note: If you don’t know with 32 or 64 bit computer, just download those 2 files.

• After completion of download, Copy to your removable storage media. Like CD/DVD, Pen Drive (Flash/Thumb Drive).
• Now copy the package in to your own computer. And double click the package to install the updates.

After installing the updates your Norton product will be updated and become secure from threads. And your system tray will show Green Tick Mark in Norton Icon. And inside the Norton Software it shows the Green Tick mark with “Secure” message. Otherwise you need to complete Full system Scan Task. For this action go to Tasks & Scans Tab and click the Run a Scan option and click the Run Full system Scan. Check the Screenshot below.

As everyone knows, JPEG (.jpg) image compression doesn’t save all the information in an image. It compresses images so that they consume only a small amount of disk space (e.g. compared with .bmp), but also damages them with “blotchy look” and “JPEG artifacts”. Still, most graphics editors have JPEG as a default format, and almost all digital photo cameras save images in JPEG format.

I have posted the Result link for GATE 2008 in this page on March 15.

Basically the GATE Brochure is not clearly mentioned about the Admission details. So that I got lot of queries form Research aspirants. As a result I have given some of the guidelines. Go through it and get benefited.
Guidelines for Applying Research Program:

• You First check your GATE Score Card, and Make sure that you are qualified or not…
• If your Rank is around 200 you will get seat in IIT’s and IISc (For IISc there will be separate entrance examination and you should apply for that. Please visit Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc)).
• If you join IISc & IIT you will be provided with a Stipend package of Rs.9000 to 12000 per month.
• For other universities/institution and the study center don’t worry about GATE Score and Rank. If you qualified you will be eligible to apply.
• If you join other than IIT, Stipend package will depend on the institution/guide.
• Before selecting your area of Research for your Ph.D., you should have overall idea about the department and institution (by logging on to the following sites:IIT-Chennai, IIT-Mumbai, IIT-Guwahati, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Roorkee, IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-New Delhi.
• For M.Tech & Ph.D you have to apply separately.
• If you qualified GATE 2008 with low score, you just send an e-mail to all faculties of various universities along with your resume. Then only you can have bright chance of getting seat in that institution.

He has applied for IISc Bangalore entrance examination and IIT Madras. And he is also going to apply for all other IITs soon. His advice is “If you qualified GATE (don’t worry about rank and percentile) just apply to all possible institutions. Then definitely you can get M.Tech or Ph.D in any one of those places and for people those who haven’t cleared, I wish to clear it in the next attempt”.
