The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones across the country by the GATE Committee comprising faculty from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordinating Board – GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.

i got ALL india rank 512 with 97.95 % in gate 2008.i havent applied for M.tech anywhere.i have 3 questions
1)IS this rank sufficient to get into any IIT ?

3)if i write gate 2009 then r both the ranks valid(2008 & 2009)?what happens if my rank is more than previous year rank?

1) You can get M.tech seats. But I’m not sure it is available in IIT.
2) Try. But not in IIT. (Admission Closed in IIT)
3) But i don’t know about the Rank Validity.

i know iit admissions are closed ,even niit admissions are closed ,as far my knowledge Mtech from other than these universities have no value for a software company and will not wait for DOJ and will try next year for IITs

No. The application validity is only one year. You can not continue for next year. So be present in exam hall…. All the best.

@jeevani – Hi Jeevani, It is based on Selection of subject and All India based.
Think, You wrote well GATE exam, and sure You going to get more than 98% mark. Also same like, other participants in the same subject Going to get good % nearly your mark. So the main problem is the more genius participant in the exam.

@gaurav – Hi Gaurav, If you dont want the Research Studies, go to IIT. (Research Studies also available).
If you want only the post graduate degree, then don’t look for IIT and IISC. Find any college near by your house.. Thats good. Don’t waste your time. Take a good decesion and achieve your dreams… all the best…

@thanuja – Plus Two pass with 60 per cent (60%) marks in aggregate in the relevant subjects. However this percentage can be changeable in every year.

@Sherry – Sorry If you not qualified. you can not apply for any programs offered by IITs.
@AB – If you Qualified you can study Research Programs in all disciplines.
